Aren't these fab! They were knit by Stacey in our Cosmopolitan colorway. She totally rocked these socks!

Just a little sneak peek at what's headed for pure knits. Please check it out next Tuesday.

And finally, another book for the pile! I think this makes for three new craft books in about a week, probably a record for me. I ordered Denyse Schmidt Quilts from Barnes & Noble and rushed to pick it up as soon as they called. There's definitely some projects in it that I can't wait to make and then there's some that I'm not too sure about. I love the simplicity of the quilts and how modern they look, but I'm kind of itching to work on a classic log cabin type pattern. The slippers are first on my to-try list and if all goes well then everyone's getting a pair for Christmas!

Have a great weekend!

etsy update

The lemon drop, cosmo and hope are all headed into the Etsy shop at noon today. One of my faves, the black & gold (GO STEELERS!), is a special order for someone that will be working on her first socks! I'm so honored that she chose my yarn for her first sock adventure. Everyone think good knitting thoughts for Erica!

Please check it out! Thanks!

a big bunch of blah... and a give-away!

Okay, so after a great weekend, Monday has hit with a resounding THUD. What the hell? I guess it can only get better from here....

Just because I'm bummed doesn't mean anyone else has to be though! A while back I went through my fabric stash, and after making a lot of really hard decisions, I have a ton of great stuff that's looking for new homes. There's no real requirements if you want something, shipping is on me unless it needs to go out of the country and if you actually use the fabric, I'd love to see what you make! Just leave me a comment and I should be able to send it to you this week.

This is a home dec fabric that I used for a small purse. I hardly ever buy fabric with an exact project in mind so I always always always have leftovers. These would be them. The background is a soft off-white and it has bits of aqua, blue, pink, green and yellow. There are two pieces, the largest is about 48"x40".

I love this print! It's so much fun! It's a really soft cotton flannel. I used this for center blocks in a baby quilt and there should be enough left for you to do the same! I have two pieces of this one also and the largest is 32"x40" and a smaller strip that's about 28"x10".

TAKEN!

This one is just crazy. I cannot remember for the life of me why I bought it, probably cause it's funky. Which it certainly is. All I know is that it's a semi-sheer synthetic, I guess polyester. It would make a great overlay for a top or skirt or even some sheer curtains. I'm pretty sure I have about 2 yards.

Sadly, I don't have any knitting or sewing to show. I'm in the middle of a big sewing project that I'll hopefully be able to have pics of soon. In the mean time I'll give you a peek of what i picked up over the weekend..

I can't wait to dive into these! Hurry up September and free time!

no black thumbs around here!

In honor of Eye Candy Friday...

stuff 314.jpg

In early spring we planted a bunch of bulbs that we got from Costco. It was a total crapshoot but most them of them have actually started flowering!

stuff 322.jpg

This sucker is huge! The plant itself is atleast 3 feet tall and the flowers are no less than 8 inches in diameter. The rest of the dahlias aren't even half its size, so I think someone may need a drug test...

The prettiest kitty!

And finally... my own personal eye candy :).

Happy Friday!

let them eat (yarn) cake!

I wasn't planning on having any knitting projects on the needles for a while, but what can I say... I found a great pattern! The girls over at zephyr style are fantastic. As soon as I saw Glee I bought it and had yarn in the dyepot within an hour. I've been dying (dyeing, ha!) to dye my own yarn for a sweater project and I love that this is done in sport weight. So many patterns I find use worsted/aran weight and I've been wanting something lighter that I can wear in the fall and on vaca.

stuff 309.jpg

I think this is the largest yarn cake I've ever seen! Before I started it weighed in at about 12 oz. I dyed up almost a pound but had some problems when it came to winding it up. My ball winder and I already had a love/hate relationship and I don't think this helped much. I'm sure it will ask for a trial separation soon :).

Oh, and another weekend project...

stuff 302.jpg

Just a smallish envelope pilllow for an Ikea chair that I wanted to soften up a bit.

Cushiness approved!

woot!

YEA!!! Keith is dunzo! Thank gawd. I just don't know what is more fab... Tim Gunn auf'ing Keith or the perfection that is Michael and Laura working together! can't wait for next week!

not-so-lazy summer days

Since I dye yarn and then decided to start blogging, I automatically thought that this would become a knitting blog. Ummmm... not so much. August, atleast, is going to be all about sewing! I have a huge, important sewing project that will be taking up most of my time and I should have pics and info on that soon. I wanted to brush up on my sewing skills and practice a bit before I started so I thought I'd work on a smaller, much less important project first.

This is Vogue 8241. Very Easy Vogue to be exact. It was fairly easy, but some of the instructions needed a double take and the final product is nowhere near perfect. I haven't done the finishing work since I think this one will only be a prototype. I will try this pattern again, but with slight modifications.

I'm most happy with how the top turned out. It took some rippping and re-sewing but the collar and under the arms fit perfectly. The only thing I think I'll change next time is to lengthen the torso a bit and shorten up the skirt.

Only a couple hours til Project Runway!!! As excited as I am for this episode, I have a feeling there's no way it can live up to the hype it's created. I could be wrong though... we'll see!
