Happy Halloween!

I figured that once I posted the pic of the curlers that I would get a lot of Lucy guesses... and you were all right! I absolutely LOVE her and knew that if I was going to go through with it that it had to be perfect. So being the Virgo that I am, I made the dress, stole, hat, and dyed my hair (just like Lucy I'm a natural brunette :)) and this is what I ended up with....

Throw in some candy cigarettes and a bottle of Vitameatavegamin and I think it turned out pretty good!

I'm hoping to have pictures of my very own Ricky to post soon.

So, there was contest.... and we have a winner!

Congratulations Heather!

Thank you so much to everyone who took the time to comment and make a guess. I had so much fun with this and I think I can safely say that there will be many more contests in the future!

Have a safe and happy Halloween!

? 2 - Electric Boogaloo

Apparently this is harder than I thought! And since I want to have lots of names to choose from, here's another hint (and probably the strangest picture I've ever taken).

?

What in the world have I gotten myself into now??? My expectations for Halloween may be a little high and just so my efforts aren't completely futile I figured I'd make my costume do double-duty and have a contest! All you have to do is leave a comment stating, from these pictures, what costume you think I will attempt to pull off. From those who guess correctly I will randomly choose a winner! I think it's pretty easy but, then again, I know who it is.

And the prize... one skein of yarntini variegated "pure fall" and other assorted goodies!

I'll announce the winner on the 31st. Good luck!

Etsy update change!

Unfortunately, due to crazy (but fantastic!) things going on at chez yarntini the Etsy shop update scheduled for today will have to be postponed. Keep an eye out for a much larger update with new variegated colorways around the first week of November!

Have a great weekend!

PROJECT RUNWAY SPOILER!

ummmmm..... yeah... I was prepared for Michael to lose (he needs direction), I was seriously upset when Laura was auf'd (her collection was GORGEOUS and had a distinct vision). And when that happened, although I don't like her very much, I kind of understood why they would choose Uli to win it all (her garments were pretty but not terribly exciting). But Jeffrey.... I have no words.... ugh....

ETSY SHOP UPDATE!

There will be a shop update today at 5:00pm est with lots of variegated sport in fig & plum, 4-8-15-16-23-42 and Project Runway sets. Keep an eye out later in the week for variegated fingering in the PR sets and Pink is the New Yarn. Don't forget the Project Runway finale is on tonight at 10pm! Team Laura!

Sayid/Jin 2008! (PLS!)

oh.my.god.i.love.LOST! That episode last night was amazing!!! Sayid is a total bad-ass and I wouldn't want it any other way! I've been dying to know if Sun and her english tutor did the dirty, and although I'm not completely convinced that they went all the way, I loved seeing more of that backstory. The shizz is totally gonna hit the fan if the chick Sun shot on the boat dies. Don't think Zeke or crazy Ben will like that too much. Speaking of crazy Ben, showing the Red Sox World Series clip... HOLY CRAP! And you know I can't wait until next week when we get to find out what happened to the boys in the hatch! And just for the hubby's sake... it's not just because the blast blew off Desmond's skivvies :).

Not only was Lost on, but I got my PR fix too! Team Laura all the way! I love that she had the balls to call out Jeffrey on his finishing techniques (or his lack thereof). I know that some might disagree, but I find it pretty odd that out of three seasons, he's the only one with absolutely no work left to do when they arrive in NY. Very fishy.... They showed a clip of him crying after talking to Tim in the preview for next week, but I'm thinking it's just because they couldn't confirm anything and he will be able to show at Fashion Week (of course, even if they do find out that he cheated he'd still get to show since this is airing way after Fashion week actually happened). We'll see... I hope they don't spend too much time on the drama next week and we get to see plenty of the collections!

Okay, just so this isn't completely about tv stuff...

My birthday was last month, and even though I had a terrible head cold, I stil managed to score some awesome gifts!

stuff 633.jpg
The dogs we already had :) but the bag is from pureknits, the namaste Executive Handbag in Dusty Rose (I'm pretty sure that's the color name). It's so big! I haven't had the chance to use it yet, but I know I could fit at east two decent size projects inside along with books and my regular purse stuff.

Also from pureknits... an amazing gift from Yahaira!
stuff 635.jpg
I'm a "real" lace newbie, so if anyone has recommendations that are worthy of this beautiful bamboo yarn, please let me know! The color that's showing probably doesn't give this yarn justice, I swear it's actually glowing. I love it!

And on one last pureknits note... a peek at what should be there soon...

PLS (Potential Lost Spoiler)!

Um wow.. I think it may be a drastic understatement to say that last night's Lost completely delivered. My jaw was on the floor the entire time. I definitely think that Lost has the best cold-opens of any show on tv. Every time they show the crash, especially from a vantage point that we haven't seen before, I get chills. And Ben/Henry is crazy creepy! I figured that we wouldn't be seeing much of anyone other than Sawyer, Kate and Jack so I wasn't disappointed that the story revolved around them at all. I can't wait to find out what's next! Tonight.... Grey's!!

The response to the new Project Runway colorway was really great! I'll have more sport weight sets to post by next weekend. Check back here or sign up for email updates to get the exact time. Thanks!!!

TGIW(ednesday)!!!

WOOOOO HOOOOO! Wednesday's here!!!! Finally Lost is back! I don't want to spoil it for anyone who may still be catching up, but if this season is anything like the last, we're in for some crazy stuff! I can't wait to check out the newest cast members, but what I really want to see is more Desmond! And Sawyer.... and Sayid.....

Speaking of Lost....
stuff 589.jpg
I don't think I need to tell you what pattern this is, but I started it last night with some 4-8-15-16-23-42 variegated in the sport weight. I may have found the perfect combo of stitch count and needle size, because there's absolutely no pooling. It's done on US size 2 with 60 stitches and it's fitting like a glove. Well...a sock actually :).

In shop news....
stuff 596.jpg
A peek at what I'll be adding to the shop today at 5:00pm est. Clockwise from the top left.... "mimosa", "tequila sunrise", "4-8-15-16-23-42", and brand new is the Project Runway set, "Carry on" (solid blue half-skein for cuffs/heels/toes) and "Make it work" (full skein). They're all variegated, except for the solid blue. For now there will only be one PR set available but if there's interest I'll definitely dye some more up asap.

Happy hump day everyone! Don't forget to watch Lost!!

socks and a blob

As my dogs and cats are my witnesses, these projects will be finished by the end of the month! With the help of a kick-ass Law & Order:SVU marathon on yesterday, I was able to get a pretty good start!

stuff 568.jpg
Pretty pink pomatomus socks! I know I'm way late coming to this party, but hey, better late than never! I had started it in a variegated but quickly realized that I wanted to showcase the pattern as much as possible. This is RYC cashcotton and should keep the socks light but still comfy. Socktoberfest, here I come!

stuff 572.jpg
Gray blob.

stuff 576.jpg
An attempt to make the gray blob look like Glee. This is oh, the fifth start of this sweater. I decided that the hand-dyed yarn was a little too bright for this and I had some RYC Cashsoft in my (miniscule) stash that I've been dying to use. I love how it's turning out but it's been a struggle to get it the right size. After finding out that the original cast-on numbers were incorrect in the pattern, I started over with the small size. That ended up being too big and since this is my first sweater I really want it to fit great. So, now I'm working the x-small and after a couple more rows I'll try it on and see how it fits. I think once it's done, instead of the hook and eyes I'm gonna see if I can find some small toggle buttons and use those for the front closure. I actually started this in the gray before I found the Grey's Anatomy KAL and it's working perfectly to knit during the show. With so much stockinette and the increases being almost done, it's pretty mindless, perfect for keeping your eyes on McDreamy!

In shop news....If you're a Lost and/or Project Runway fan, be sure to check back on Wednesday!
