new year = new contest

I hope you are all having a wonderful holiday season! Eating lots, opening gifts and enjoying your friends and family!

The yarntini clan just got back home from a few days in North Carolina. We met my husband's parents in Asheville to celebrate Christmas and it was really a lot of fun. Neither of us wanted to make a 20 hour trip from Pittsburgh to Orlando so we decided to meet them halfway. Definitely a great idea!

I think I scared the pants off my husband while taking a few of these pics! He's not one for heights!

To celebrate the new year I have a contest for you! I went into December planning on knitting ONE present! Just one! And a hat at that, easy peasy. Well, by the time all the gift giving is over I will have finished and gifted 5! knitted presents. Nothing crazy but definitely more than planned. So as far as the contest goes, just leave me comment with how many crafty presents you planned on making before the holiday season started and how many you ended up with. Higher or lower doesn't matter. I'll keep it open until January 8th and then choose someone randomly to get a fantastic "Yea! The holidays are over!" gift. Included for sure will be a skein of our brand new colorway, "pomtini"!

i planned to make one pair of socks, and ended up making ten gifts.

great idea for a contest!

I was such a scrooge this year. I planned on making no gifts for the holidays, and ended up making...no gifts. (do I get the slacker prize? heh)

Glad you had a good Christmas, and happy new year!

I was going to make 6 but ended up making 3.4. OK, let's just say 3, since the .4 hasn't yet been gifted.

I'm battin' .500, people! That's good enough for the Majors.

Love, love the new color! I had planned 5 gifts. 3 for my husband and 2 for my parents. My parents got done earlier in the year. But I started too late for my husband. Got 1 sock out of 2 and got the scarf and hat done, but not the gloves. Although I'm not sure he wants the gloves...

I had planned on one and ended up doing about 5. Sandly some were joke knits - like neon orange mittens for my sister to match a tacky hat she has.

that new color is so pretty!

i planned on four and made two - not really bad, but not good either!

I planned on 8 but only finished 7--Three scarves, one shawl, one pair of fingerless mitts, and two hats. I was almost done with a sock when I noticed a major mistake--too late to fix it so I just gave up!

Gorgeous photos! North Carolina is so beautiful.

I planned on making 4 gifts and I ended up making 5. I know this sounds like bragging but my little sister put in a last minute request. And I had to oblige. Even though I was casting off on the plane on the way to see her.

Happy New Year!

I had planned on making four gifts for four people---three scarves and a shawl.

I ended up making three gifts for one person, and all three of those gifts were scarf-sized shawls. Let's just say that one person is the one of the few friends I'll actually knit for, the others weren't.

Oh yeah, the fourth gift? It was a "my so-called scarf" knitted from Malabrigo. I ended up keeping it for myself!!

I had planned on making about 3 gifts, but was only successful in making 1... wow, that's really embarrassing... I think I need to set my sights lower next year!

I had two projects to knit - a pair of sock for my uncle and some felted clogs for my aunt. I got them done with time to spare.

I had planned on 3, and I finished 3! Two Christmas stockings, and a scarf. Since I'm a pretty new knitter (3 months), I was very pleased with myself. I vow to start earlier next year, though, because the pressure to finish in time was a bit much ...

I love your new colorway! Awesome!
I planned on knitting 12 gifts (?!?!??!!). As usual, I was overzealous. Had a mini breakdown around the 17th of Dec and had to re-organize. In the end, I did 10. Still pretty good, huh? I knit mainly socks socks socks!

I planned on making two and only managed to finish one.

I planned on making 4 and only made 2.

I planned on making 3 gifts and made 9, one was a sewing project though. I finished three scarves, 4 pair of fingerless mitts (1 for me:), a knit dolly and some sewn pocket warmers - a Martha Stewart thing. I ended up giving my mom a pair of Fecthing mitts and a skinny one cable scarf the day after Christmas after giving her the Backyard Leaves scarf ON Christmas, I just ran out of worthy recipients!:0) I love the new colorway - pink is yummy!
Also fabulous pictures, what gorgeous sites!

I planned on making 5 gifts this year, but was able to squeeze in another 2, and was halfway done with my mother's second sock. Not bad for my first year of holiday knitting.

I planned on making 4 and ended up making 8 instead!

I planned for 6, but ended up making 4. Not bad since I made them all in December! I always say that next year I will start earlier, but it never seems to happen!

Happy Holidays!
I had planned on making 1 sweater, 2 scarves, and one pair of socks. I finished the sweater and scarves, but only made it halfway through the socks. Not too bad. :)

Well...
I started November with 5 skeins of Manos to make some scarves but.... My dog got sick at the first of December, and I only finished ONE! One stinkin' project! At least there are always birthdays, right?

I think I might hear a lot of "Scrooge" typed in my direction but, I planned no (nada, zero...) knitted gifts this year. And I made none - although it was hard to stick with the decision. Lots of knitting happened but only for mine-own self :).

I knit 3 Christmas gifts and 1 birthday present. I had planned on 2 extra little gifts so it was not missed that they didn't get done. Hee! At least that's what I'm telling myself! The new color is gorgeous!

I planned on three, but ended up with two. One was not on the original list. Love the new color!

Planned on knitting 10 items, but only finished 8 of the ten. Got the six pairs of socks done, one pair baby bootees, one baby hat, but fell short of the two baby sweaters. They're still on the needles.

Ooooh! I love Pomtini! And I've always wanted to go to Ashville....it looks absolutely gorgeous!!
Well, I did pretty good theis year with being realistic about gift knitting. I really only planned two gifts and that's what I stuck to, although there are several things more that I would have liked to make. I figure I will get to them eventually.

i planned on 5 but finished 3 completely and 2 remain undone. i did manage to squeeze in 2 crocheted pieces ( i know that's like switching aliances but you gotta be flexible under the holiday time crunch and this was a major emergency!) at least everyone was happy with their presents and i've sworn off doing large lace shawls forever! smaller projects for me please!

Oh gosh..I planned 9 and finished 2.5
I had to gift the scarf on the needles.
I am still planning on knitting the others but the will obviously be late...talk about christmas in july!

I attempted to complete a pair of socks for my grandmother, but did not get them made for Christmas. Will hopefully complete them in Jan

o.K. so I mentally thought about making 2 gifts this year, physically, I made zilch. Next year, perhaps I could physically make 2 gifts and mentally give them away??
:)

well, i planned to knit about 10 pairs of socks, but only finished one. and the last sock was finished about an hour before opening gifts. I sat on the couch at my MIL's, knit like crazy, then stuffed it in a bag and handed it to my FIL with a wink.

I planned on 2 crafty gifts and I gave 1, but it wasn't either of the ones I planned on!

Well, happy me, I was thinking of finally starting a "me" project after the holiday and I've been drooling over your yarn for some time ... so what a fun surprise to link to your blog and this contest ;). I think I planned on knitting 3 projects and ended up knitting 5, two more in progress and one sewn project, a needle organizer.

Thanks for the contest and your really great yarn!!

I planned on making 10, a winter jacket for my husband and 8 gifts for my family, but ended up on making 9 - not so bad !

I had planned on making one hat and two sets of mittens as gifts, but I ended up with one balaclava and two sets of mittens. Pretty good, for a chaotic planner like me!

I "planned" on making just as many as I ended up finishing, and just threw them into the big box o' gifts, unwrapped, and told my girls to distribute them however they thought the kids wanted, needed, or would like. And that I'd take orders for future hands, heads, feet, or whatever. It worked! And I got an "order" for more Fetching mitts and a pair of gloves and a hunting hat.

is it sad that i didn't plan on any knitted gifts this christmas? i ended up with making 0.5 gifts. and i gave my mother a yarn/pattern kit, does that count? ;)

I planned 1, and made 3 (but that doesn't include the one I planned, that's still not finished). Love the yarn!

I planned three, and knit three. For me, that's amazing. ;-)

Pomtini is GORGEOUS... oooooooooh!

My plan was to make purses for all the girls in my life (friends and family) ... I wanted to make 10, got 8 done, had to give 2 rainchecks and I'm working on one right now in between typing! ;).

I planned to make 5 knitted tree ornaments to give and I made the grand total of ZERO! Sheesh. The mojo just wasn't happening.

I had planned to knit a pair of socks for each of my nearest and dearest family which means six pairs. One family member declared she'd rather have mittens so she got them instead of socks. I did manage to knit all these. Plus two scarves and a pair of mittens.
I did not get to knit the lace gloves for a friend because it was mindful knitting which I simply wasn't capable of in the pre-holiday rush. So in the end I was happy with what I did get done but also a bit sad that I did not get that one big project done. But it was either the lace things or the socks...... Happy holidays and happy new year!

I had plans to make 14 pairs of knitting ballet slippers, I finished 10. I promised 4 felted bags and finished all of them, although I did cheat and for the last one chopped up and old jcrew roll neck sweater that I haven't worn in 10 years but didn't have the heart to toss it because I loved the color so much. Now I wish I had purchased more way back then.

Started with zero to knit, (I promised myself no pressure knitting this year!) ended up knitting 3... :)

I planned on 10 gifts--only ended up with 5!! Mainly pairs of Fetching fingerless gloves and 1 piar of socks!

I planned on making a hat (for hubby), a Calorimetry (for sissy), and two baby hats for a friend...I only finished 2 of 4- the hat for hubby and calorimetry for sissy.

i planned to knit a dozen and only knitted two halves- one mitten for one person and a completely different mitten for another person. they both got explanations about how santas elves ran out of time...

i'm usually a yarn-ho, but when i saw your nc mountain pictures i just new it was nc before even reading the text!
i have been up and down those mountains (including mt. mitchell) ... and have walked the a.t. from georgia to virginia in those mountains ... and i sure do miss the trail!
one of my co-workers stopped in the store today to show me her "cosmopolitan" footie ... she said that her mom had ordered the yarn for her sorority at unc. wow! great colorway ... i put myself on *the list* for when you have more available.
